After the Revolutionary War, settlers still loyal to the British crown, known as Loyalists, took their slaves and left the United States for the Bahamas. Today, the Bahamas have a self-governing democracy and travelers from all over the world visit the islands to enjoy its blue water, ocean breezes and the easy-peasy island life.

Secluded beaches on Green Turtle Cay and the surrounding cays have beautiful stretches of white sand that are spectacular where you will most likely have the beach all to yourself. You can reach the beaches by golf cart and/or boat.  Don't miss cays like No Name (one of Island Magazine's most romantic islands), Fiddle Cay and Manjack Cay for deserted, pristine beaches.
Island Hopping
Tom Sawyer offers island tours to Hope Town, Guana Cay and Man-of-War from Green Turtle on his 31-ft. boat, "Sea Venture". With over 25-years of experience at sea, he is familiar with the surrounding waters.  Visit the candy striped lighthouse at Hope Town, Nippers at Guana and Albury's Sail Shop at Man-of-War.

With warm, crystal-clear water and the fourth largest barrier reef in the world, the Abacos' have one of the most exciting boating, diving and snorkeling areas in the Caribbean. Brendals Dive Center, next to the Green Turtle Club Resort and Marina, provides scuba instruction and certification, day trips and dolphin encounters.

Fishing and Guides
Anglers know Green Turtle is one of the best places to fish. The gamefish rich deep waters of the Atlantic lie offshore only a short distance from the inshore flats.  Green Turtle Cay lies between the flats and the deep water. Rent a boat or charter a guide for bonefishing or fish the reefs for grouper and snapper.

Lincoln Jones Adventure
Lincoln Jones will take you swimming, snorkeling and fishing, then cook fresh fish and lobsters on the white sand beach at nearby, uninhabited island, Manjack Cay. Add a couple goombay smashes and you have a reef party that shouldn't be missed.
Junkanoo is an energetic parade with locals of all ages dancing in colorful costumes to the rhythmic sounds of cowbells, drums and whistles. The festival is celebrated annually on New Year's Day with the parade wrapping around the narrow streets of Green Turtle and onlookers lining the roads, rooftops and balconies.
